While there is no doubt about the benefits of a surgical facelift, not everyone is willing to go under the knife. Fortunately, non-invasive facelift procedures have been on the rise, providing youthful results without the use of a scalpel. These can address lines and wrinkles, as well as tighten loose skin.

We have two nonsurgical facelift procedures that can help with sagging skin: Ultherapy and PDO thread lift. The former uses time-tested ultrasound energy to counteract the signs of aging while the latter uses PDO threads to subtly lift facial features.

In this post, we explain both procedures in detail to help you learn more about them. Continue reading to learn the difference between Ultherapy and PDO thread lift to determine which one is right for you.

Ultherapy is a non-invasive facelift procedure that taps into the power of ultrasound energy to lift and tighten skin. You can turn to this treatment for tightening skin on the brow, under the chin, and on the neck. It can also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face and chest areas.

How does it work: It uses an FDA-cleared device called Ulthera, which bypasses the skin’s surface. The device does this while delivering the right amount of energy at the right depths and temperature. This triggers a natural response under the skin, stimulating the process of new collagen production.

What results can you expect: While some patients report seeing changes right after the first session, significant results are visible after two to three months. It takes time to see dramatic improvements, as the new collagen can take between 8 and 12 weeks to form or develop.

Is Ultherapy painful:  You may feel tiny amounts of energy or heating sensations below the dermis, but it does not cause pain. These are only present during the delivery of energy on the skin surface. Also, safe painkillers and topical numbing creams are available to improve patient comfort.

Keep in mind: In general, the effects of Ultherapy can last about two years. However, genetics, lifestyle habits, and body chemistry can play a part in the duration of the results. The skin also continues to age over time, which is why it is advisable to make Ultherapy in Singapore an annual treatment to maintain youthful results.

PDO Threads

PDO thread lift is also a non-surgical facelift procedure that uses absorbable threads to lift sagging skin and give you a rejuvenated appearance. At Laser Clinics, we have the Dr. Perfect V-Line PDO Thread Lift. This KFDA-approved procedure can lift and tighten loose and saggy skin on the middle face, jawline, and neck area.

How does it work: The procedure uses a very fine cannula to insert the strong and absorbable PDO threads in the skin’s deeper layers. Once inserted, the skin will undergo a self-healing process that promotes active blood flow (in the skin’s inner layer) and collagen production.

What results can you expect: It is possible to see an immediate lifted appearance in the treated area after the procedure. Significant effects, however, are visible after two to three months or when the stimulation of new collagen begins.

Is PDO thread lift painful: Although the procedure involves the injection of PDO threads, it is well tolerated by patients. It may require local anesthetic, but there is no hospital stay needed. The procedure offers quick recovery with natural results.

Keep in mind: It takes over a period of 6 months for the inserted threads to gradually dissolve. You may be glad to know, however, that its resulting lift can last for up to two years or as the new collagen produced retains the lift.

Which one is right for you?

The right procedure depends on factors like your skin’s degree of laxity, as well as your goals and concerns. If you seem to have loose skin on your face, neck, and chest areas, Ultherapy is worth considering.  If you, on the other hand, want help with sagging  jowls and lower face, you may turn to PDO thread lift.

A consultation with an aesthetic doctor can help determine which one is suitable for your concerns. Your doctor may also recommend other procedures to address certain skin concerns and give you a younger-looking appearance.
